Science at FCJA

Children have weekly lessons covering all areas of the science national curriculum, including: chemistry, biology and physics.  Within these lessons, children also develop their 'working scientifically skills' which also form a crucial part of the national curriculum.  These lessons are well sequenced to ensure all children build on prior knowledge and understanding.

We use enquiry approaches to help make learning as practical as possible, so that children can really 'See the Science'.   This helps to build a secure understanding of the key knowledge required in each unit of work.  As a school, we also use oracy to help develop children's verbal explanations and, as a result, their use of scientific vocabulary.
