The overall responsibility of the SENDCo:

• To be responsible, on a day-to-day basis, for the provisions made by the school for pupils with special educational needs (SEND).
• To provide professional guidance and support for staff in relation to issues with SEND, thus assisting to develop high quality teaching and learning, along with effective use of resources, bringing about improvement in standards of attainment for all pupils.

Other aspects of the role will also include:

• Ensuring the school meets all requirements for special educational needs and disabilities as set out through legislation;
• Monitoring the progress of all SEND pupils across the school, identifying where they may be making less than expected progress and implementing strategies to support these improvements in raising attainment;
• Evaluating the impact of provision (including the effective use of teaching assistants) and address any concerns that may arise;
• Developing systems that ensure that all SEND pupils' needs are met and that staff are accountable for the progress of these pupils;
• Auditing whole school systems and provision mapping so that the impact of interventions can be measured;
• Liaising with outside agencies when appropriate for further SEND support with specific pupil needs or whole-staff training/CPD;
• Organising, attending and reviewing MyPlans, MyPlan+ and EHC plans at routine intervals
• Liaising with parents and developing parental involvement when supporting a child identified as requiring additional support;
• Being accountable to the Trustees and reporting to them termly.
